Member Communications Manager

Overview

Do you know your Twitter from your Tumblr? Can you manage a digital community? Then we would love to use your skills to provide to manage our member communications.

You’ll be just as happy writing a snappy line of copy as monitoring and participating in online conversations.

With experience of a variety of social media channels, bulk email tools, wordpress, good writing and technical skills, you’ll be happy to work on your own initiative to set guidelines.

Appointed by: District Senior Leader Team

Responsible to: Deputy District Commission (Perception)

Main contacts: District Senior Leader Team, Media Development Manager, Assistant District Commissioner (all sections), Group Scout Leaders.

Traning: You’ll be required to complete the essential information module of Scout training.

Main Tasks

  • Work closely with the Media Development Manager (MDM) to produce and implement a communications plan.
  • Create a rolling plan of local dates which would make relevant news stories and either attend or assign writers for this events.
  • Grow a base of volunteer writers who can produce content and share the load.
  • Publish news to our websites and social media channels in a relevant and timely fashion.
  • Ensure that all news is on brand and in line with our values.
  • Maintain and update content in the district website.
  • Utilise media provided the MDM across our various channels.
  • Produce monthly member communication.
  • Maintain our Mailchimp account and come up with ideas to grow reader base.
